In injection molding it may happen, that the air can’t escape or that it moves only very slowly out of the cavity.
An air trap will occur if the air is surrounded by the melt completely or if it is at the end of the flowpath (missing or insufficient venting). Therefore, in this situation burn marks may occur.
The air trap can be located in the inside or at the surface of the part.
The later causes an incomplete filling.
With a good venting system and a mainly uniform wall thickness, air traps can be avoided.

Good quality plastic parts are achieved when the boundary conditions in production are stable.
In addition to the set process parameters such as melt temperature, injection and packing pressure time, etc., there are also influencing variables that have received little attention to date.
These include the ambient temperature in the production process itself.
Depending on the process, this can have a critical effect on the quality of the injection moulded parts produced.
For example, the temperature on the mold surface will drop if a hall door is opened near the machine.
The AmbientScan module has been developed to monitor the temperatures in a production cell.
The integrated sensors record the temperature, air pressure, volume and humidity and send the data to a central server.
This allows trends to be visualised over days and weeks so that fluctuations can be counteracted by automatically generated alarm messages.
Measuring technology:
Ambient scan with open front panel and view of the sensors
Measuring technology: Data is sent directly to a server for analysis via WLAN

Polymers with macromolecular chains, that have mostly random orientation with a high entropy, are called amorphous.
This structure allows the chains to move freely, which leads to a high flexibility and elasticity of the material.
Amorphous thermoplastics consist of only 10 % crystalline structures.
Typical amorphous materials are PS, ABS and PC.

Plastic:
Amorphous Material is recognizable on the macromolecular chains

Just as for length, there are also for angles dimensional standards similar to gauge blocks available.
By combining angle gauge blocks with dimensions between 0 ° and 90 ° in steps of at least 1 second (special designs) any angle can be assembled.
As with parallel gauge blocks, this is done by pushing the measuring surfaces together.
This simplifies the measuring of angles, cones and angular divisions.
This makes it possible to set degrees, minutes and seconds precisely and quickly in any combination.
For example an angle gauge block set with 16 angle gauge blocks allows about 35000 angle combinations in a range from 0 ° to 90 ° in special steps of 1 second.

If a tolerance zone is toleranced by two parallel straight lines or planes, it is referred to as slope tolerance (slope for short).
The toleranced object must lie within the spanned tolerance zone with a given distance.
For example, the axis of a hole is toleranced so that its axis must lie within a cylinder with a given distance.
If an inclined surface is toleranced, it must lie at the given distance between two planes.

Quality Assurance: The inclined surface must be located between two parallel planes at a distance of 0.15mm (Inclination to reference line A)
