Injection-Stretch-Blow-Molding (ISBM)

A combination of the manufacturing technologies of injection molding and stretch blow molding is the injection-stretch-blow-molding. It is used to produce hollow parts in small to medium sizes (e.g. PET bottles).
The process can be described with 5 steps:
1. Injection molding and possibly conditioning
2. Changing of cavity
3. Stretch-blow molding / Blow molding
4. Ejection of part

Inking

To check if the parting line of the injection molding mold fit properly on each other inking is used.
This is done by applying inking-colour to one side of the mold (by spraying or brushing).
By closing and reopening the mold the colour is transferred to the other side of the mold.
Now it is easy to see where the mold fits exactly and where it does not.
This is an important information when it comes to subjects like short shot, flash formation or even multi-component molding.

InMold Solver

After the injection molding process, defects can be visible on the produced plastic part.
Causes of the most common defects in injection molding where analyzed and grouped by several German institutes.
Based on this research, solutions for each defect are described and summarized in the software InMold Solver.
With the intraweb based software comes a database that allows to add new defects and solutions.
Today the software is available in its version 1.22, in English, German and Thai, to support setters and quality managers, in order to find fast solutions to eliminate defects on plastic parts.

Inside Micrometer

For the measurement of the inner diameter of drills for example inside micrometers can be used.
They exist as 2-point of 3-point inside micrometer.
The advantage of 3-point-inside micrometer is its selfcentering.
Inside micrometers cannot be used for measuring roundness.
There are point and line measuring surfaces as well as the special case of beak measuring surfaces.

Internal Valve Gate

Hot runner drops can be used with a needle inside. These hot runner drops are called valve gates.
However, the opening and closing of the needle can be done in different ways.
One way is to use air in order to move the needle and is implemented in the internal valve gate nozzle.
This pneumatic valve gated hot runner operates entirely without elastomeric seals, lubricants, or cylinder cooling.
It can operate at extreme temperatures of up to 400°C (750°F).
