Angularity

If a tolerance zone is toleranced by two parallel straight lines or planes, it is referred to as slope tolerance (slope for short).
The toleranced object must lie within the spanned tolerance zone with a given distance.
For example, the axis of a hole is toleranced so that its axis must lie within a cylinder with a given distance.
If an inclined surface is toleranced, it must lie at the given distance between two planes.

Anisotropy

The directional dependence of properties of a molded part is called anisotropy.
During processing (injection molding) the macromolecules are aligned in the direction of flow.
This results in different strengths depending on the direction.
In general, the strengths are higher in the direction of flow than at right angles to it.
Therefore, in material data sheets, information is usually given in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
Anisotropy is particularly pronounced in fibre-reinforced plastics.

CAQ

Different measures need to be taken in a company to ensure the quality of molded parts.
This results in processes such as a continuous inspection of each part or a processing of complaints.
Today, all processes that have to do with quality assurance are represented by appropriate programs. Therefore, one speaks of computer-aided quality assurance (CAQ).
The abbreviation CAQ contains for example the following processes:
– Incoming inspection
– Production-accompanying examination
– outgoing goods inspection
– Audit system
– Test Equipment Management
– Complaint management, etc.

Cavity Pressure

The pressure inside the cavity is called cavity pressure. It is usually smaller than the specific pressure due to pressure losses.
Sensors inside the mold are used to measure the cavity pressure and to compare it with the injection molding simulation.
The time-pressure curve of a complete cycle helps to validate the vp-switch, as well as the effect of the packing phase.
The part quality can be evaluated easier.

Cavity temperature sensor

In order to determine the temperature on the wall of an injection mould, cavity temperature sensors specially designed for this application are used.
The reaction time of the sensors plays a major role here.

The aim is to be able to detect the position of the melt front in real time. The sensor thus functions as a kind of light barrier in the mold.

It can also be used to analyze the temperature profiles in the cavity.
With this, the sensors are used for monitoring, switching and closed loop controls within the injection molding process.
