If a gate shall not be visible while using a cold runner to fill the part, the melt can be delivered into the cavity by using a cashew gate (also known as banana gate or curved tunnel gate).
The curved design of the runner makes it possible to gate on the backside of a part.
As soon as the mold is open the gate will be separated automatically.
But it needs to be kept in mind that brittle materials or fiber filled materials will break during ejecting and a small piece of material will block the channel afterwards.
Before using a cashew gate the stroke of the ejector pin as well as the type of material must be checked thoroughly.
