Caliper Gauge

With the help of caliper gauges, the status “good”, “reject” or “rework” is decided during serial measurements.
This way no faulty part leaves the production line.
Like the plug gauge, the caliper gauge has a good side and a red marked reject side.
The good side represents the maximum dimension and is thicker on the gauge than the reject side.
The diameter of a shaft must not be larger than the dimension of the good side.
To prevent the shaft diameter from being to small, the reject side, which is the minimum dimension, must not fit over the shaft.

Computer Tomography (CT)

An imaging procedure in radiology is computer tomography, short CT.
The test object is placed hereby on a turntable between an X-ray source and a high-resolution area detector. From the step-by-step 360 degree rotating test object, a 2D projection image is taken for each angular position. A powerful software calculates from these images the absorption behavior for each location in the test object.
The absorption behavior is visualized at each volume element (voxel) with gray values. Each gray value represents a different material density. Finally, these single elements are assembled into a 3D solid model.
The process is used in the plastics industry to determine the exact dimensions of a part, making it easier to identify tolerances that differ from the desired geometry.
Furthermore it is possible to cut through the part to identify defects on the inside (e.g. voids).

DAkkS calibration

The highest industrial calibration standard in Germany is the DAkkS-Calibration.
It has the highest reliability, is internationally recognized and is binding in court.
DAkkS-calibration certificates are required for:
– automotive industry (IATF)
– pharmacy/ medical technology
– factory standards
The DAkkS (german accreditation agency) is the national accreditation agency of Germany.
According to the Regulation (EG) No. 765/2008 and the Accreditation Body Act (AkkStelleG), the DAkkS acts in the public interest as sole provider of accreditation in Germany.
The accreditation and surveillance of laboratories, inspection and certification agencies (conformity assessment agencies) ensures quality, confirms competence and creates confidence in the results.
For manufacturer, conformity assessment agencies and consumers this procedure is therefore absolutely transparent.

Demolding Force Measurement

The demoulding process takes place at the end of each injection moulding cycle. Sometimes unfavourable demoulding conditions result in a loss of quality, such as ejector marks or stress whitening. These problems can often not be remedied by technological variations as many influencing factors are already to be found in advance with regard to material selection, plastic and process-relevant moulded part design as well as mould design. In order to investigate the demoulding behaviour and to improve it, there are measuring approaches, such as the demoulding force measurement, which are aimed at achieving practice-relevant results. For this purpose, force sensors are used in the ejector package. As a result, among other things, an analysis of the effectiveness of mould coatings or additives can be made and the demoulding force can be reduced.

Depth Caliper

A standard Caliper with integrated measuring bridge, but without measuring blades is called depth caliper.
It can be used to measure the depth of holes (which don’t pass through) or grooves.
Function and design are almost identical to the standard caliper.
With mechanical depth calipers, the determined measurement is read off via the vernier.
For the digital version the value can be seen on the display.
